Personality: Pikachu is a stubborn and determined individual. He firmly believes whatever he believes is right, and even if someone reasons with him, he is unlikely to change his beliefs. Even if something is proven to him, he may not change his mind, and might convince himself that it was a fraud or trick. Additionally, when Pikachu wants to get something done, he works at it until he either gets it done or passes out trying. He will never give up, and he hates to show signs of weakness. This doesn't mean, however, that he is a necessarily unfriendly person. Once he gets to know and trust a person, he will be a very loyal, caring, loving friend, and his friends can always count on him in a tough situation. If he comes to dislike a person, however, he has the tendency to make fun of them, or will just ignore them to the best of his ability, unless they provoke him, in which case he may easily lose his temper and jump to a fight. If he considers a person his worthy rival, he will respect them, but probably still make taunts or glowers when they're in the same room. Until a person gets to know Pikachu, though, he puts on a tough act, and generally seems unreachable.

As previously mentioned, Pikachu has a quick temper, and is easily angered. If one of his friends is put in danger, or someone injures his pride, or he finds someone bullying someone else or something of the like, he is likely to lose his temper and get into a fight. He is a generally a strong fighter, and, environment permitting, can electrocute people on command. He also is quite agile, but not very physically strong. Stripped of his abilities, he would have no choice but to run, though he would be unlikely to do that, and would take a beating rather than look cowardly or abandon friends in need. He is extremely loyal, and will do anything for a friend.
Backstory: Pikachu was born in the Kanto region, living in the tall grasses with other pokemon. As a child, he was generally friendly and trusting. As he grew up, however, one by one, all of his friends were caught by young trainers, and he never saw them again. Because of this, Pikachu became determined to be strong, and trained himself so that he would never be caught by a trainer, who he believed to be unrightfully kidnapping pokemon. He also grew to be very stubborn, because he so passionately believed what he believed and did not want to be caught. He would do anything in his capability to break any pokeballs thrown his way, and effectively kept from being caught.

One day, Pikachu heard through the grapevine of a school which he could attend that would make him stronger still. Though he was confident in his skills, he still wanted to become stronger, and decided to attend. Once at Sumabura, he was amazed by all the diverse types of people. At first, he resisted becoming a gijinka, because of his dislike for trainers, but through meeting all sorts of new people, many of which he deemed not to be bad people, he finally caved and learned. Though he will admit that no specific type of person is bad by nature, he still dislikes trainers, and avoids any he meets at school.

Pikachu is a bit of a slacker when it comes to standard educational classes, and doesn't get the best grades in math, sciences, or humanities. However, he loves to get physical activity and fight, and excels at brawling and such. Even with his poor academic grades, he has returned for the past two years and is now entering his junior year at Sumabura.
